Overall this is a great new concept in portable storage. Its so simple, and secure, and convenient. I will definitely use them again. If you are looking for a portable self storage unit in Grand Rapids, I would recommend Zippy Shell.
I love love LOVE this portable storage service. It was much cheaper than PODS and the storage unit was so much bigger than MyWay or U-Haul boxes. Fantastic customer service - they will coordinate with your schedule. Its great that they are right here in Grand Rapids.

We used Zippy Shell for storage while we prepped our house for a move. It was the easiest, safest, and most reliable service we have ever used.
Brian brought the trailer with the interior storage compartment right up to our garage, which made loading and unloading ridiculously easy. He also provided extra moving blankets and later wrapped the entire compartment in material and plastic wrap.
Brian also was outstanding on the day of the move. He was on time, and as a first time mover, was incredibly helpful helping us organize the Shell in the best possible manner. This was unexpected plus and not a service for which we contracted.
Zippy Shell portable storage was just what we were looking for when we needed a convenient and secure self storage solution. We were looking for something that was very secure to protect all of our things. We were also looking for a convenient service that offered local and flexible delivery service around Grand Rapids. We found Zippy Shell to offer all of that and at prices that are surprisingly affordable.
The service was great too. They worked with us to set a delivery of the storage unit at a time that worked well for us and picked it up within a couple hours after letting them know it was full. Now I know my stuff is safe and sound inside a heated warehouse.
We cannot say enough positive things about ZippyShell. Highly recommend and will be using them in the future for any thing that needs storage!
Zippy Shell doesn't provide your typical mobile storage container. We have seen some of those other storage containers in driveways before. I helped a neighbor fill one just a couple months ago. It was made out of particle board or plywood and had a tarp over it with Velcro to close the tarp. It didn't look very secure or waterproof to me. And the box sat there for over a week in the rain. Zippy Shell, on the other hand is a unique concept. They brought an enclosed cargo trailer and parked it right where we wanted it. The trailer has a metal storage unit inside. The trailer is completely waterproof and secure and even has an alarm system. Talk about secure. Our stuff was in a metal storage unit with our padlock on it, inside a water proof locked trailer with an alarm system. It really doesn't get much more secure than that - especially when compared to some plywood and a tarp.
Brian, the local owner, was wonderful to work with, as we had a unique challenge as we lived outside the zip code range that other concepts serve, and it was difficult getting multiple offers. Our situation was unique as we moved from a rural area to Grand Rapids, but it underscores his desire to meet our needs.
All around great experience with Zippy Shell and Brian knows how to take the stress out of moving. This will be our go to for future moves!
All of our belongings were in perfect condition, and Brian delivered and picked up the trailer within hours of our request.
I have worked with Brian twice now, the first time for about a year and the second time I needed storage for over three. Most of that time I was out of the country, but he was very patient, and allowed me enough time to fix any issues from across the world. Very nice to work with, often helped out more than he needed to. If you're looking for storage, come here!
