Beautiful place to host a wedding reception. It only hold 150 guest, but the wait staff was fantastic and always able to help right away. They have covered deck so the rain on the night we were there didn't matter. Clean bathrooms, and plenty of space to do and dance like you want too.

My experience working with the Bissell Tree House to host my corporate holiday party was spectacular from start to finish. My event coordinator, Darci, was professional, informative and very detailed helping me execute the event without any hiccups. The venue is breathtaking at night in the winter when you can see the Grand Rapids skyline and a light dusting of snow on the trees. Darci coordinated arrivals/setup with all my vendors coming in making my life easier. There were staff members posted all over to direct my guests making their experience flawless as well. Overall it was a great experience!
A little over a year ago I suggested the Bissell Tree House as a reception venue to my sister for her wedding. I love the John Ball Zoo organization and the Bissell Tree house is stunning. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that she would end up feeling embarrassed and taken advantage of. A month before the wedding there was trouble regarding the alcohol pricing. After thinking that everything had been ironed out, also know as forking out more money. We were expecting that the event would go smoothly. Instead the drinks were subpar, very very weak, people were getting "cut off" two hours into the reception, and were refused a last call announcement. Now mind you the contract states "no last call will be made." Don't let this confuse you because this does not mean that last call will not be made by the bar, it means that the father of the bride, the bride and groom, the masters of ceremony, the DJ, and the wedding party will all be refused from making a last call announcement too. At the end of the night my sister and her husband felt embarrassed by the entire situation. It's a shame that such a beautiful location would use such blatantly misleading verbiage and embarrass the bride and groom on their wedding day.
Stunning choice for both ceremony and reception! The balcony serves as a unique and intimate venue for the ceremony. The hall is exquisite for the reception. Great staff, excellent customer service. Be sure to use a vendor for the sound system as recommended by the staff. Perfect venue for a smaller wedding, making it convenient and stress-free to enjoy the entire event at the Bissell Tree House.
