I visited KIngsland Hardware on Sunday afternoon and had a terrible experience with what must have been a disgruntled, older woman who obviously hated her job. She was so short and rude with me. Why ownership would put someone like that on a cash register in the face of the customer is beyond me.
Typical Ace hardware store. Nothing special. Service over the past 10 yrs has not improved a singlr bit, but I don't go in there for specialty projects. Just quick in and out tasks. Expect to be ignored (for the most part...not ALWAYS true), unless you are seek out an associate to ask a question.
Worst customer service I have seen in a long time. Stood at the counter while Angie complained to a coworker about having to be at work. Once finally done complaining, scanned my stuff grumbled a total to me and shoved a receipt at me. As I was leaving the gentleman behind me asked to buy a grill and she moaned like it was a huge inconvenience. As a business owner I would be horrified if someone working for me treated customers this way. At best she should be sweeping floors and taking out the garbage.
Today I went in to have a key made. The original I tried to have duplicated works in the three locks it goes to with no problem. I informed the gentleman cutting the key that Lowe's had unsuccessfully attempted to make the key three times with their plug-and-play automated key machine (by this I mean the machine where they pull out a cartridge that matches the blank they are using, put both keys in the machine, turn it on and walk away until it's done). Here the associate hand-cut the key, but once again it doesn't throw the bolt. Matching up thr keys there are clear differences. Going back again later today. Fun. Fun.
Customer service is key. Kingsland Ace Hardware sets itself apart from Lowes and Home Depot etc. by offering personal and expert customer service. They won me away from the big box stores. In addition, you can walk in and out easily without feeling overwhelmed from a massive oversized store. Thanks Kingsland Ace hardware!
