They have a large selection and reasonable prices with friendly staff who are usually available to help.
I'm renovating my home so I've been making lots of trips to the Walker and Kentwood Home Depots.
Do not buy carpet here. Carpet itself is fine, and the people who put it in were conscientious and did a good job. The company they contract with to schedule carpet installations, Untied Home Services, is terrible. Had to schedule six weeks out; nothing sooner. Two days before install, they called to reschedule. Said if we didn't take a new date three weeks farther out, they would push us farther down the list and we'd have to wait even longer. Day of install they called to reschedule again, saying installer's truck broke down and we had no choice. Installer was already working in our house, no broken down truck. Liars never prosper, unless they work for home Depot scheduling carpet installations in Michigan. Had to wait over two months to get carpet replaced in our flooded basement. Multiple calls to store management and national HD customer care number provided no resolution or improvement. Free installation: you get what you pay for.

I NEVER prefer to go to the Kentwood location. They are very understaffed and the couple of workers that are there are over worked and rude if you ask for help. The store layout is kinda wonky too.
The rest of the store is fine.
It takes 20 mins to find someone if you're lucky at Kentwood, I can go to Walker and get friendly help in 5 mins tops!
Everyone in homedepot is very helpful and friendly. And Gary who mostly work in the garden center is extremely helpful. He helped me find the gravels and retaining wall blocks that I need and loaded them in my car. My car is small, therefore, I had to do 2 trips to get what I need. He prepared what I need between my 1st and 2nd trips. He saved my time an my back. Thanks Gary. I will keep shopping at homedepot.
