This was our favorite Zoo ever! The animal enclosures are part of the natural terrain and blend in very well. Animals have needed space, a terrain suited for the animal and well carried for. You feel a part of it all! We watched the feeding of the bears which was fantastic! Strawberries and grain pellets and very friendly staff. All ages in our family from 1 yr old to 65 ... and all of us had a GREAT time! We will visit again!
Park on Grand Rapids near west side, featuring multiple playgrounds, band shell, turn of the century pavilion, and spectacular zoo. Condition of some areas of park are in a state of decline. Zoo is gem. Well worth a visit. Free parking. Modest admission charge at zoo
Overall it's a fun place to take your kids. They have some cool exhibits like where the Lions are. They will sometimes walk right up to the glass so you can see how big they actually are. They've been adding on to the park as well which is great to see! Prices aren't too bad. If you go in the fall, the goats love eating the crispy leaves!
John Ball has always been a small zoo, but it's also been a well maintained zoo. Recently, they expanded into a previously unused lot of land and that new area is really nice. I'll admit, I'm rarely ever pleased to see animals in cages, but I can at least respect the conservancy this organization tries to do. It's a fun place for kids, especially their Halloween festivities.
Who doesn't love a zoo. Unfortunately it was later in the year and some animals were gone for the season. We came for boo in the zoo and my kids loved it. They had a great time and we would definitely come back.
